Why I Write

Welcome to my moving to Florence blog — a space where I share real-life stories, relocation advice, and reflections from life in Italy. I’m a people person and a curious one. I love meeting people from all over the world and hearing their stories. Writing is a way for me to process, connect, and reflect.

Some posts are practical — things I’ve learned from helping clients or navigating Italy myself. Others are personal, sometimes a little vulnerable, about what it means to build a life somewhere new.

If you’re thinking of moving to Florence or simply curious about what expat life can really look like — this is for you.

Over the years, I’ve realised that people moving to Florence are not just looking for a house — they’re looking for a feeling. A sense of place. A soft landing.

This blog was born out of that realisation. It’s where I put the things I can’t always squeeze into emails or property viewings — the emotions, the surprises, the little victories of daily life in Italy.

I write for people who are dreaming about Florence, planning a move, or already unpacking. You’ll find posts about choosing a neighbourhood, understanding local culture, and dealing with practical things like the permesso di soggiorno or how to find good coffee without looking like a tourist.

I also share behind-the-scenes stories from my work as a relocation consultant. Without naming names, of course, but always with honesty. Because even when things go sideways — and they sometimes do — there’s always something to learn, and often something to laugh about.

If you’re curious about what life in Florence is really like — the real stuff, not just the Instagrammable version — I hope this blog will feel like a conversation. Or a letter from a friend who’s just a few steps ahead of you on the path.

Wherever you are in your journey, benvenuti. Let’s explore Florence together.
